Peter Tomai brings over 25 years of experience to Zephyr where he drives the execution and optimization of Zephyr’s investment activities. Peter’s unique blend of corporate discipline and entrepreneurial spirit helps guide the investment and development teams in their pursuit of excellence and superior returns across Zephyr’s portfolio.
Prior to joining Zephyr, Peter was Managing Director of Madison Marquette, an investment and development firm specializing in value-added mix-use and trophy waterfront developments like the 2.5mm sf District Wharf in Washington, D.C and the transformational redevelopment of the famed 1.5-mile retail and entertainment anchored Asbury Park Boardwalk on the NJ shore. At Madison, Peter created a new investment thesis responsive to the rapidly evolving retail environment which has helped drive the execution of over 1.6 million square feet of new development and follow-on investments.
Peter has served as an executive officer of two public companies, including Great Wolf Resorts, a themed hospitality company he helped take public. At Great Wolf, Peter helped secure Great Wolf’s “first-mover” advantage as he oversaw the company’s growth across the US and Canada. Peter’s team materially evolved the product offering and reputation of the brand as the leading developer and operator of family-themed, weather-independent resorts.
He formerly served as Executive Vice President of American Skiing Company where he oversaw the creation of the company’s nation-wide footprint of signature mountain resort villages. Prior to his public company experience, Peter began his professional career in New York City at NatWest USA, where he specialized in syndicated commercial real estate lending, mergers and acquisitions.
Peter studied Mechanical and Management Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and received degrees in Finance and International Business Diplomacy from The McDonough School of Business and the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Peter is Vice-Chairman of the Entertainment Development Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and serves on several boards and commissions. He is a member of the US Green Building Council, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, and an avid skier, cyclist and sailor.
